Our Story

On February 28, 2004 my sister and I lost our mother and best friend to pneumonia and lung cancer. There is nothing that can prepare you for such an experience. The love and bravery of our mother helps us through the difficult times that follow the loss of a loved one. Although such an integral piece is missing from both of our lives, we are so very thankful for all that she has given us.

My father lost his loving wife of nearly 40 years, and longtime business partner of Bugs Bernie Pest Control, Inc. It was a marriage that represented an extraordinary personal and business commitment. Together, they were the most outstanding parents and grandparents that we could have ever dreamed of.

My 3 children and my nephew lost their "Mom-Mom," whom they all shared special relationships with. My sister's unborn twins were scheduled to be delivered on the day of my mother's funeral. Fortunately we were able to reschedule the birth 2 days later, and along with her husband, I had the privledge of seeing Joshua Caden and Justin Tyler brought into this world on March 5, 2004, just 2 days after the funeral. It was a bittersweet day for all of us.

My grandfather, Sid, lost his beloved daughter who meant the world to him. Only five months after Judi's death, Pop Sid passed away. We take comfort in the fact that they are together again.

It was shortly after her death that my father approached me. He told me that prior to my mother's death they had discussed making an annual scholarship offering to Bensalem High School graduates. We both wanted to find a unique way in which she could remain a part of everyones lives forever. Judi was always a compassionate person and since she was always touting the values of education, we decided to start a foundation in her name, dedicated to furthering the education of high school students in the form of college scholarships. With this foundation, we hope to make a greater contribution to the community than we otherwise would have been able to do personally.

The Judi Spivack Memorial Foundation, while commited to its goal, needs your help in order to achieve our goal of helping others.

Thank you,

Dina Spivack-Kerr
