2010 Scholarship Presentation
7th ANNUAL SCORING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2010

DATE: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2010 (RAIN DATE 09/18/10)
TIME: 10AM-4PM
PLACE: BENSALEM COMMUNITY PARK, RICHLIEU & GALLOWAY RDS, BENSALEM, PA 19020

Players of all ages will once again participate in a variety of softball games to help raise scholarship money to support our cause. Don't miss the annual grudge match between Ryan Kerr's team of 16-17 year olds against Bugs Bernie's team of . . . ummm, much older gentlemen. Please join us for a fun-filled day of softball games, prizes, raffles/auctions, snacks & children's activities such as face painting from 12-2 and a moon bounce all day!

Our primary source of funding is generated through our “Scoring for Scholarships” event. Our ability to continue granting scholarships is highly dependent upon the success of this event. Your contributions and donations illustrate responsiveness in providing opportunities to the youth in our community. All proceeds benefit The Judi Spivack Memorial Foundation.

Thank you for your continued support!

2010 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER ALEXA ALLONARDO

Please join us in congratulating Alexa Allonardo, a BHS senior who was the recipient of this year's $1,000 college scholarship on behalf of The Judi Spivack Memorial Foundation. Alexa is the 6th recipient to receive a scholarship since we established the foundation in 2004 to support and facilitate the advancement of higher education. The scholarship was awarded at Bensalem High School's Awards Night, June 15, 2010.

Recognition for this scholarship includes demonstrating the ability to overcome obstacles in order to achieve what you’re striving for in life through a variety of personal characteristics and effort. In addition, the student must remain focused on her grades, extra-curricular activities, and community service.

Alexa captured us with the way in which she portrayed her qualities and passions; she expressed them visually through her art work. One sculpture in particular was a political piece exhibiting her feelings for abused animals. It was a greyhound placed into a tiny cage to demonstrate the pain and suffering these animals experience.

She is quoted as saying that all types of art have some kind of feeling put into them as they’re being created, and that there are no good or bad pieces of art, only different ways of portraying things.

Alexa plans to major in Fine Arts and Business in order to pursue a career in art. We wish her the best of luck and know she will be successful in her future endeavors!

We would also like to extend our thanks to Assistant Principal, Mrs. Leonore Hope and Ms. Hope Herman, for their invaluable assistance once again. We are so fortunate to be able to work with such a great group. We couldn't have done it without you guys!
